Tsushima Health Care and Welfare Research Foundation
president Terumi Tsushima

When Mr. Shozo Ikeda, who made every effort to create the Long-term Care Insurance System of Japan, retired his job as the professor of Ryukoku University in 2011, Mr. Ikeda and other people involved in the creation of the care insurance system, such as researchers and officers, hoped strongly to make use of the precious documents about the care insurance which Mr. Ikeda has stored. Therefore, our foundation decided to undertake the establishment of gIkeda Libraryh, and it was born to provide these documents and date for the society.
In addition to Mr. Ikedafs collection, people involved have provided us with other precious documents they have. Thanks to that, not only the books given by Mr. Ikeda, this library has so many documents that shows how gthe Long-term Care Insurance Systemh came into being, such as documents of each kind of government committees before and after the creation of this system.
We can learn the history of gthe Long-term Care Insurance Systemh that can be called gthe revolution of Japanfs policy of nursing careh, and also it will be the precious clue for us to consider the future policy toward super-aging society.
Our foundation sincerely hopes that this library can help you and the society -researchers, students, government officers, and citizens-by widely opening to the public.
